Part 4: The Black hills and Surrounding area
Crazy Horse: Just down the road from Mt. Rushmore is the still in progress sculpture of Crazy Horse, a Native hero who in this mountain sculpture is saying "My land is where my people lay buried".
Bear Country USA: Bears up close and personal! Just a few rules, you must remain in your car at all times and keep your windows closed. No problem. In the bottom right you can see how close these bears are to the car.

The 1880's Train: ALLL ABOARD!!! This was a highlight for the kids. They loved everything about the train, Lexi would constantly point out the window and say "Look! Look!, Choo-Choo!". Addi loved to wave to everyone we passed by.
We then headed north to the Spearfish area and checked the area's many waterfalls.

Continuing on our adventure we headed up to Devil's Tower. It has a legend that seven Indian girls were dancing in a meadow when a bear happened upon them and started to chase them. The girls climbed on a rock and began to pray to the rock to save them and the rock began to grow, raising them high into the air. The bear clawed and scraped the rock but could not get the girls (you can still see the grooves his claws left). The rock took the girls so high in the sky that they became stars over the rock and can be seen today as the constellation Pleiades.
Yup, we have spent a lot of time in the car this trip. But we managed with movies, naps, treats and games! Next stop, Montana!
