Braving it alone, Mommy takes the kids on the 9 hour drive to Canada.
The kids were troopers!
Normally we would stop twice for a break but this time, per the kids request, we only stopped for lunch!
Making the trip in record time (for our family) and added bonus:
Austin, who had only been potty training for four days, made the trip accident free!
And if driving for 9 hours wasn't enough, we headed up to Edmonton (an additional 4 hours) to see Aunt J (but somehow didn't take any photos with her. Hmm).
Splash parks, The West Edmonton Mall, walks along the river and planning the family reunion kept this crew busy.

UH, No.
Mommy's playground equipment has been retired for years and new and exciting equipment is here in its place. (Plus we would probably not allow the kids to play on equipment that was as old as Mommy in fear that the kids would need tetanus shots, and we cant have that, the cost of healthcare in an foreign country is outrageous!!!!)
There were 6 on the quad and the little one said... Hang on Addi!!!!

This is where Mommy earned her lifeguard certifications, worked for three years and taught swimming lessons. So glad that the kiddos get to have memories in the same places that meant so much to me!
Bonus: They said if I ever wanted my job back they could make the arrangements!!

Heritage Park
Heritage Park Historical Village is one of North America’s largest and most successful living history museums.
Guests have the opportunity to interact with nearly 100 years of history.
It is the Park’s mission to preserve the history of the early West.
The Park's replica costume collection has been researched and created by the Park to ensure that all staff is dressed in respect to the historical era they represent.
A vintage train, which is now the Park’s most iconic feature, was restored to operating condition and track was laid for its journey around the Park.
The Park’s attractions and exhibits span Western Canadian history from the 1860s to 1950s, and are situated in four locations around the Park:
- 1860s Fur Trading Fort and First Nations Encampment
- 1880s Pre-railway Settlement
- 1910 Prairie Railway Town
- 1930s, '40s and '50s Gasoline Alley Museum and Heritage Town Square

One of a kind Children's Boat Swings. Child sits in the boat while the parent pushes, until it's time to end and the parent enforces the "brake", a 2x4 plank that you step on one end and it is levered upward creating friction on the bottom side of the boat thus slowing it to a stop.
The Eli Bridge Company sold this No. 5 Big Eli Wheel to Alonzo Palmer of St. Thomas, Ontario, in 1923, and subsequent owners used it at carnivals around Ontario. Jim Conklin, of Conklin and Garrett Ltd., purchased the wheel for his antique midway display in 1977, and he donated it to Heritage Park in 1984.
The carousel was a staple of carnival midways and parks at the turn of the last century, and this particular model was built by the Herschell-Spillman Company of New York, in 1904.
The Claresholm General store built in 1905 was purchased and moved to it's current location within the Park and is now the famous Candy Store. Licorice sticks and molasses candy are a few of the hundreds of options one can choose from. Other stores include the Drugstore, the Blacksmith, Snooker Hall, Newspaper, Bakery, Jail House, Post Office, Harness Shop and a Ice Cream Parlor.
The S.S. Moyie is a steamboat built in 1898, originally intended to ferry miner to the Klondike gold rush. It was used by the Canadian Pacific Rail to ferry passengers on Kootenay Lake in British Columbia.
Telling secrets at the table can only mean trouble with these two peas in a pod!
