August Adventuring

We made a list of all the little things we wanted to do around Idaho before summer ended and school began.  Thus August became our Adventure month.

August means helping Mom in the garden!  The kids love shelling peas and cutting the ends off the beans.

 

Having three older sisters can warp your interests.  This little boy still pulls off the cutiness even when dresses as a princess!

A rare and majestic creature. 

Unusual rainy days in August brings the kids indoors.  They still come up with creative ways to entertain themselves.  This is their version of a "drive-in" theater inside the house.  They removed the tops to the storage ottoman and they each had their own cubby to sit in while watching the movie. 

I scream, You scream, We All scream for Ice Cream!

The kids participated in the Library's Summer Reading Program and won several prizes and gift certificates to different places around town.  This was their free icecream cone at Chickfila.

It wouldn't be Idaho with out some taxidermy, but this was unreal.  I can't imagine sitting on the couch with all these heads watching me.

It was a quite Sunday afternoon and I hadn't seen Austin for a while, so I went looking for him, and found him fast asleep in an unusual place.

Addi only had her glasses for 6 months but she out grew them and needed a new pair!  

I just cant seem to keep these kids from growing.  It's costing me a fortune!

It's always the sister who doesn't need glasses that wants them.

Lava Hot Springs.

This was our first time at Lava Hot Springs and we had so much fun.  Now that the kids are getting big enough and brave enough to ride on different water slides, like these two 60 foot vertical drop speed slides!  Addi took turns dragging Mommy or Daddy with her to "race" down these adrenaline pumping slides.

Trading water slides one weekend for rafting the next weekend.

Ausi, getting too big to be carted in the backpack carrier, can reach the frame bars with his feet, plant them on the bar and bounce, making it quite difficult and a little painful for the carrier.

A rural take on "Watch it, I'm walking here!"

 Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the West Yellowstone Playmill. 

Leighton wanted to wear her Belle dress but it had been sent away to get fixed, so her Jasmine dress had to do.

This was an accidental (and wonderful) meeting with the Beast.  Characters were not suppose to be available for a meet and greet after the show because this was a back to back show night, but the Beast had a young niece in the audience and he came out to take a picture with her, therefore our girls were able to meet "The Beast".

And Addi (being Addi) took it upon herself to run off back stage to find Belle and bring Belle out to meet her sisters and take a picture.  It was very sweet of Belle to do so against the rules.

And once again we have exhausted our kids.  (that's the plan, right?!)
